Victoria's Secret's knickers are in a twist

Underwear company Victoria's Secret really should think before releasing some of their advertising campaigns. The latest campaign under fire is their 'Perfect Body' campaign, which features the thinnest, most attractive women in the world, stripped to their underwear. The problem with this? Self image activists are exclaiming that the campaign sets an even higher standard for women to aspire to.

Now, let's be honest. Most underwear advertising features pictures of beautiful women in underwear, which we already know makes other women feel inferior, however, this campaign takes it just that little bit too far. To actually write, in words, that the women in their campaign have the 'perfect body' is an absolute slap in the face to any woman not featured in Victoria's Secret advertising. So really, those designing the campaign should have simply stepped back and looked at it from someone else's perspective. It's not difficult to see why people are upset.

To worsen the situation, it is not the first time the brand has received backlash over their marketing strategies, and since they won't respond to any of the claims made against them, the brand is losing street credibility with customers who matter. One could even say that Victoria's only secret is that she wants to body shame the entire female population of planet earth. The terrifying fact is that to some extent, her scheme is working.
